Toddlers Obsessed with Trains
I don’t know exactly what did it, but the Bean is obsessed with trains. It’s really great, because wherever we go there are trains here in Vancouver. Sky trains, train trains, toy trains, trains for kids to ride. At Metrotown Mall there is a cool train ride for kids and parents to ride through the mall. Gregory loves it.
I don’t always want to go to the mall though, it’s crowded, controlled climate and it’s such a production to get there it feels like. Plus, finding something to do while waiting for the train can be a challenge. Selfie sessions, hand clapping games, song singing and playing on the touch screen map of the mall is a great time passer. But it can only keep the attention of a toddler wanting to ride a train for so long. And don’t even get me started on the needing to chase the train to the pickup station only for it to be full.
So I did some research and found a new train ride available that was open on weekends. What’s so great about it? It’s outside, and its legit steam and coal powered trains powered by a Society of Model Engineers. Pretty sweet and it’s easily accessible in Burnaby.
It was an afternoon family train adventure and I managed to take some photos. I’m fairly sure this is going to be a frequent visit for us this summer. It was awesome during the hot afternoon heat, and I look forward to train rides in the future.
Only next time I’ll bring a camera and make a fun family vlog so I can always remember how we felt having a fun train adventure this summer. It’s a blast from the moment I ask Gregory if he wants to go for a train ride.
Is your Little as obsessed with trains as mine? And how to you satisfy their need of these magnificent machines? There are a few other train rides I want to check out before the summer is over. It’s awesome discovering them because I get to experience the ride as well. Even if I couldn’t, it’d still be worth the adventure. Seeing Gregory’s smile and pure excitement is what my life is worth living for. I’m tellin’ ya. It’s pretty great be a mom.
